Plain Cross
Another view in Ross Bay Cemetery from a couple of weeks ago, looking towards the bright ocean through the trees. I liked the bright light reflecting off the lighter coloured stone and the patterns it makes against the dark grass. And the contrast between the simple stone cross and the complex cast metal monument.

This is beautiful. The dark tree forms in the background really add to the mystery.
Thanks! Every time I see that bright light filtering through the trees at the south edge of the cemetery I want to photograph it, but it is very hard to capture well.

Thanks Ken – it was one of those processes where little by little I ended up here – seeking an effect that finally came when I went much further than I had intended at first. I kind of like the discovery that comes with these ‘darkroom’ events.
This is very well-done – the interplay between dark and light, and between the simple and the complex, make for an emotional shot.
