Troubled Bridge IV
Another image from the removal of the railway span of Victoria’s Johnson Street Bridge a few weeks ago. This picture was taken a week ago when I went to the bridge with my ‘new’ wide-angle lens to document more of what is left of the bridge, and its current condition.
I took several pictures, but have not found the energy to edit them all into a presentable shape, so you will have to wait. I will do a gallery sometime soon of those images. Other ones in this series can be seen at this link. The smaller crane continues to work on the railway span, and parts of the lower structure of that part of the bridge are slowly disappearing. This view is of the counterweight for the road bridge, a barrier for pedestrians when the bridge is up, and the crane at work dismantling the adjacent structures. I prefer the black and white version of this photograph, but the colour one is pretty interesting in quite different ways, so you get to see them both. And I get off with another light weight blog in terms of my own effort.

See map link for location (it can take some time to load, but is ‘worth the wait’).

Wonderful angle; it creates a wonderful perspective.

I picture the photographer lying on his back in rusty rain water to get this shot!

Hi martina – I see exactly what you mean. And I even considered getting low to the ground for more perspective. Fortunately it was not raining this day, and in fact with the 24mm lens, I could take the shot while standing.
