First was I forgot to focus - the viewfinder is so bright and clear that I sometimes forget to check the focus patch. Another issue is the variable density ND filter does not have FStop equivalent markings - I have had to make my own approximate marks. A third issue is the XPan light meter is not sensitive enough for a dark ND filter so external metering necessary which is fine except for the uncertainty about filter density settings. The final issue: the outer diameter of this filter is bigger than the lense hood and thus the hood cannot be used. Hence the soft, low contrast image with lots of flare. The solution is a different single ND value filter that will fit within the hood. Though I am not sure whether such is possible when combined with the centre filter. And now, after posting, I see I forgot to remove the dust and didn't crop the edge properly! . . .
