Wall Lights

Over the Christmas holidays we went for a nice long walk, and I took pictures in the failing light, several of which have shown up on this blog.

This one was taken of lights next to a driveway.

Canon EOS 5DMkii with Canon 50mm/1.4 lens. ISO 1250, f1.4 and 1/2000th second.

    • Thank you David. I don’t know why I have been sitting on this image – just forgot about it I guess. I like your shot too – is that your son sitting in the photo by any chance?

      • It is my son sitting there and what’s even more odd is that I have been sitting on that image for months (took it back in January)…hope you liked it (I decided to kinda go heavy on the processing adding grain, darkening it, etc). Felt to me like it should have a film noir’ish feel to it for some reason.

      • I do like it. I think the processing works well, and the comments on your blog show that you struck the right chord, your readers are reacting to it as if it were a street shot of a down and out person.

I shot these lights on Dec 29th, and even processed the image that day or the next. Others I shot on that walk can be found at the low-light tag on this photo.

    • Hi Toad – I do too. I have been wondering how different it would look through a takumar lens. I have a 50mm 1.8 now and a 1.4 which needs modification. Maybe one day I will do a comparison just for the heck of it.

  1. Here is another case of a great photo taken that most photographers wouldn’t have seen. The shallow depth gives this added interest and your choice to go black and white is perfect.
