Macquinna Arbutus

Macquinna ArbutusLast July I did as series of posts showing some wonderful clouds associated with a lightning storm. On that same day with its drenching rain, brilliant lightning and wonderful light I caught this moment as well. It is a local species of Arbutus that has evergreen leaves, and beautiful bark that peels off. This light shows it off to good advantage, even a young one like this.

Another evening in which I feel like I am running on fumes only (tomorrow is a day off, so I should be back to speed quickly). Thus another quick post of a neglected shot that I like well enough, but which normally I might not leave standing all alone. This is on Harling Point looking south – the poles in the distance are next to the Chinese Cemetery and we are looking down Macquinna Street.

Canon EOS 5Dii, Nikkor-N Auto 24mm f2.8 lens. ISO100, 1/20th, aperture not recorded.

  1. Great colors in the tree there, Ehpem! I love Arbutus trees, they are definitely something to stop and enjoy when encountered here on the island. Best wishes, we hope you guys are feeling better soon!

  2. Beautiful lighting on that tree and it show off the bark very well. That is the perfect condition for lighting and I’m glad you realized it. Nice shot.

    • Thanks Ken – I missed this comment first time around! Nice lighting, I wish I had done a better job on the framing – the intent is there, but not quite good enough.
