Coho View

This photo was taken from the Coho Ferry on the way to Port Angeles and the Olympic Peninsula in July.
This treatment captures for me some of the feeling of approaching the Olympic Mountains from water when they are just a strip along the horizon, topped with clouds, underlined by fog.

Great layering and dimension in this shot, my friend!

Hi Andy – thank you. I took this shot with a curve of solid white in the foreground from the bow of the ship, which was not nearly as interesting as I hoped. While trying to resolve that problem I found this solution to the whole shot. I like it when one issue leads so smoothly from solving one problem to the next.

The ribbon of clouds over the mountains sets this off beautifully.

Thank you Ken. I don’t think this shot would work at all without that ribbon of white in it.
