Drain Sunrise IV
This is part of the series of storm drain sunrise pictures, looking over the top of the storm drain which you can’t see – you will just have to imagine it. Or go to this post to see it with this same cloud in the background. I don’t know about you, but this cloud looks like it could crush a large ship should one pass beneath it. It kind of looks like it is waiting for such a ship.
Click on this link to see (possibly too) many other shots of the storm drain.

Thank you Joseph. A not uncommon heavy around here.

Why thank you Ashley! It was a beautiful half hour or so, and turned into a really nice day.

This, again, is one of the best storm drain photos that doesn’t include the storm drain.

Thanks Ken. It was a great sky and light. All I had to do was point and shoot!

That is what you might call an Oppressive sky. But what drama there is in that image.

Thanks Andy! Oppressive is the word I was groping for, and never found. I was out at the same spot this morning, but the sea was slate grey and the clouds lighter grey and not much definition in anything. It is wonderful how it changes all the time. I took some pictures and the camera is sitting close (ish) to the wood stove drying out. Me too.

Not to argue or anything, but there’s no such thing as “too many” shots of the storm drain. If I ever come to Victoria, it’ll be the first place I visit!
That black line on the horizon is very nice.

A tourist mecca! Victoria does have a bit more to offer than this!
That black line is great. This shot is one of the brackets I was shooting but it needed no treatment other than a touch of sharpening and clarity to the raw file. Very pleasing when a shot comes out of the camera so well!

I know. In addition to the storm drain, there’s the Chinese cemetery and the Mondrian building. Right?
A shot that’s nearly perfect the way you shot it is like a gift, isn’t it? (I am speaking hypothetically here, as I don’t think it’s ever happened to me.)

So many things. Not to mention peeling paint on curbs.
It was exactly like a gift!

I forgot about the paint and curbs! I might have to stay a whole day….

I agree. That cloud is up to no good.

No news of missing ships or tidal waves so it must have given up.
