Wharf Street is quite high above the harbour, so the older waterfront buildings often have two or three stories below street level.

That is beautiful, Ehpem. I like the sense of the modern rising up from the ancient. At least, this is how it reads to me. I love that it is in black and white.

Hi Karen – thanks! It is quite nice in all its brick-redness but black and white does work better. And there is something ancient about the deeper parts. Unfortunately I could not get into the opposite wall due to a gate, I would have liked to poke around and take pictures from some other angles.

Hi there – we see things quite differently I think. Melinda asked me a few times when I was taking pictures ‘what are you seeing’. I did not really have answers for those questions as it is something hard for me to articulate. Obviously we need to spend more time together to explore such questions.
