Fired Cafe
Cafe Mexico in Market Square had a fire a couple of weeks ago.
I am guessing that the neon below will not be lit for a while, and the sign on Wharf Street will swing alone for some time.
In a way it is a shame that the horrible bandito cartoon stereotypes in their signage did not burn too, so that it might be replaced with something more Mexican.
The colour pictures were taken just before Christmas when I was testing a lens I am interested in buying. It is being modified so that the mount functions fully on my EOS cameras at which time I will make the final decision, but it is pretty well made.
The lens is a Sigmatel YS 135/1.8, probably the same construction (factory?) as the Sigma of the same specifications, but not the same design as many of the various generic brands (Accura, Polaris, Raynox, Samigon, Soligor, Spiratone, etc) of Japanese 135/1.8 lenses of the same period (70s or so), which is a good thing as they are not nearly as good performers. The Sigmatel is said to be very similar to the highly regarded Pentax 135/1.8 and that too is a good thing. I want the lens for video use, and it should be excellent for some kinds of portraits too. Very heavy mass of glass though.
