Sock or Sleeping Bag?
As I have previously mentioned, I am surrounded by dolls and textiles. Once again my surroundings come together in strange ways. While I was shivering in the wind storm next to Sahsima yesterday, this doll Min was being far more sensible. She hijacked my wife’s knitting project, insisting it was a sleeping bag and not a human sock at all, and that besides, a girl needs to keep warm.
Min is a truely adorable doll, though she tends towards getting into a (little) bit of trouble and really is a high energy member of the doll clan. I think she knows that she is adorable. Despite her faults, she is relentlessly cheerful and thus a true pleasure to have around. She is not a Hitty doll, but is like a little sister to them. Her creator, or as Min prefers, her Goddess, is T.C. Vollum. TC’s dolls are fantastic, they all have interesting personalities and are consistently upbeat.
Some of TC’s dolls feature in a delightful weekly online comic called Ellen and Pink. Ellen and Pink is presented (by TC) through excellent photographs and is worth a look for its technique as well as its content. Min is so proud to have such famous cousins that she sometimes reminds the Hittys of this claim to fame. They, of course, pretend that their ears don’t work at such times. Who can blame them? I am hoping that being featured in this blog does not go to her head.

Hi Branta – Indeed it is 🙂 Or is it a sleeping bag? Did you know that some people worry that sleeping with your socks on is bad for your eyesight? I wonder if using a sock as a sleeping bag makes you blind. Poor Min, if that is the case, because she loves getting into these wool socks for a long nap.
