I really like this version too actually!

Thank you Malin! I like it too. I have a few shots from this vantage, in one of them the crow is not cawing, in another the songbird is swooping off the line. But this is the best.

Jaunita – you should hear the noise my cat makes whenever a crow comes into the apple tree outside her favourite window seat – it’s a special sound (she has another for hummingbirds) that we are not sure what it means, but I think respect is in there – though maybe just respect at how many meals could be made of such a large bird. Do you get ravens in your area? I have worked a lot with ravens keeping an eye on me, with a running commentary on all my mistakes and ignorance. Amazing birds.

Yes, we have a lot 🙂 They are every where and watch everything!! I don’t know what I would do if there weren’t any, it’s kind of comforting!! I’m sure your cat does want to eat them lol but.. respect is respect 🙂

5 minutes is more than enough time for a great photo. I tried something like this last week but the damn bird flew off before I got my shot. This is much better anyway, I didn’t have such a dramatic sky.

5 minutes is more than enough time, but there were other things I want to photograph too. Coming soon to my viewers is, drumroll, a sewage pumping station with remnants of this same sky. I bet you can’t wait. I forgot to take a picture of just the clouds. There are things that could be done with that kind of a shot too which I would have liked to try. Next time.

Thanks Ryan, we could do with more of those skies, but I suppose their rarity makes them more precious.

David – that is a sad statement, but I know exactly what you mean. I am glad we are getting a break from it for a few days.

Thanks Mario. Some luck here – getting the beak open mid-caw is not something to be guaranteed as you press the shutter. It’s what I planned though, so glad for the bit of luck to go with it.

So okay, this took my breath away. Perfect illustration of how a picture can speak a thousand words. It’s amazing how just one photo can evoke emotions.

Hi there – thanks so much. I got about 4 shots, one just crow sitting, then the songbird flew into the picture in just the right place and the crow started calling. Then the songbird flew away – I have a picture of it dipping out of sight, but the crow is just sitting again.
