Breakwater Beach
So, back to something more familiar for this blog. Here is another photograph from Ogden Point Breakwater a couple of weeks ago. This is the beach and bedrock at the outside base of the breakwater. The colour of the logs drew my eye, and a long exposure enhanced it. These are first and last shots I took of the breakwater area that day a few weeks ago and a suitable way to wrap this series.
You can find out more about the breakwater in my first post of this series. This link collates the series in one place.

Thanks James – that is much more the way I view the world, I still don’t see mermaids and dead bodies when I look at this picture!

Don’t laugh, but my wife was looking across as I opened this post and said: ‘Is that a body in the first image’. I promise I hadn’t seen it until I read the other comments.

OK, I won’t laugh. But @%#$! I would never after a thousand years of careful consideration have predicted this response from one person, let alone four. Not that I am complaining. Just gasping for air.

I’m so glad you all have such fertile imaginations. Even the lousiest picture could be fodder for a lively commentary 🙂

I thought the same thing as David when I first saw the top photo. Photographs are almost always nicer with figures in them. You’ve taken care of that in both these posts then. Good job!

Oh dear – a third one. Holy smokes, I am amazed. And pleased of course to have done this, without the slightest intention.
And nice to find that there are so many great minds reading my blog!

Okay, don’t laugh but the one piece of wood in the first image (upper left corner) reminds me of a beached mermaid! Oh, and then I read the comments and Katherine already said that (sorta, sans beached…great minds think alike?). Love the long exposure, great image.

I am laughing. How could the two of you, on opposite sides of the world, see a mermaid in a bunch of drift logs? I always marvel at the eyes that people look at things with, but I would never have guessed this one. Still, I can see it, now that someone(s) with the right eyes has brought it to my attention. And great minds for sure – you and Katherine both have terrific blogs, different in many essential respects, but really interesting.

The first image is spectacular. You are right about the logs; those colors are amazing. I really enjoy the effect of the long exposure.
I also like the hint of mural in the second image and the sense of scale.

The first thing I saw was a mermaid, lying on her tummy, with her arm stretched back towards her toes! (Top left of top photo). Love the colours in the top one, also.

Katherine – I can see that too – maybe she is looking closely at a tide-pool?

No, I think she is look for Froddo’s ring. There is something very Lord of the Rings about the pic. You are so clever. I just love your mystical photos. Glad you could see her too!
