Thorns Broom and Rock
More photos from December. Not sure why I am looking at these, let alone posting them, on one of the nicest summer days we have had so far. But I am. This is at the bedrock end of the Chinese Cemetery.
In this area, well beyond the graves, are bedrock outcrops between some quite dense thickets of broom (which is an introduced species that a lot of effort is going into beating back in some parks around here) and some thorny bushes which may also be introduced. I am pretty sure that the bedrock is indigenous, but heck it might have slid up here from California.

Thanks so much Ryan. I really like those kinds of winter branches too – I find them very difficult to photograph though, not sure I have done them justice yet – maybe the answer is more in post, but I don’t really know.
