Crossed Wires

Crossed Wires

This sky, which I saw from the nearby parking lot while shopping, is what drew me into the cemetery to take some pictures. However, it was very difficult to get the sky into the shots due to trees, wires and other obstacles.

Even with trees and wires in this picture, I like how it came out.

I wonder what happened to the tiled surface of this grave – did they just loosen and fall off, or did someone pry them off for a home reno project of some kind? Almost certainly they were black and white as was the fashion.

You can find out more about Ross Bay Cemetery in these earlier posts.

  1. Is it possible that someone would rob a grave site for tiles? Seems like that’s courting disaster with the spirit world.
There is a tool in Photoshop called “Content Aware Fill” that can actually do a good job of cloning out power lines. I’ve seen others use it and it does a very nice job on the photos I’ve seen. I don’t know if it’s available in Elements but if not, it probably will be in a future version.

    • It is hard to know if someone would rob the tiles from a grave, but if they had loosened, perhaps they would. Or maybe the heritage society that keeps an eye on this cemetery has removed them with the intent of replacing them in better weather.
I have used (well, had my son do it for me) a photoshop tool that does that in movies – fantastic software. I decided that these wires did not really detract too much from the picture. They change it quite a bit, I don’t think they really add much either, but the angle of the wires works with the rest of the photo. Elements is on my list of things to buy…
