In The Groove III
Some time ago I posted a photo, In the Groove, from this same vantage point. That post contemplates the competing stories for the origin of Sahsima, the rock in the middle distance. I think that post is worth reading again, or for the first time if you missed it before.

I like this photo and the earlier one. But mostly, my comment is to say thanks for re-directing my attention to your earlier post. I had clicked the “like” button on it before, but in my (all too) usual hurry, had focused on the image rather than the text. Now I’ve gone back and read it properly, and absolutely love what you have written.

Thank you Laurie. I am glad that my suggestion was worthwhile. I think it is probably the best written component of my blog so far. Or at least one that is as close to getting what I want to say as I have managed so far.

Beautiful. I love the play of elements in this.

Thanks Ryan. That makes me think, I need a picture of Sahsima by candle light sometime at night 🙂

Hi C, so glad to see you around. Enchanted kingdoms abound in the distance. In fact, the Olympic Mountains are in those clouds, and so one can assume some deities as well.

Great shot, Ehpem! Great reflection, and it really produces a strong leading line.

Thank you Toad! I like to think that the rock might have ground that groove in the bedrock riding along under a glacier. But that seems a bit unlikely.

Like quick silver in the foreground – it gleams and glistens and is the perfect foil to that high energy sky. Beautiful.

Thank you Andy! The edges of the puddle are very quick silver-ish.

Thanks Karen! And thanks for all your comments the past few days while I have been busy with house guests and thus unresponsive.

I really like the reflection of the clouds in the pool of water in the bottom half of the photo. It’s almost like a mirror and a contrast to the ripples in the other waters. This is very nicely done.

Thank you Ken. It was like a mirror – it is one of the things I really like about these small puddles, they create little holes of sky in otherwise solid ground surfaces. I seem to photograph them quite often!
