Club Foot
I found eight clubs at my feet the other day on a street corner in Fernood. Run over and ground into the pavement, but still legible.
I have seen many things on the pavement, but I don’t recall that an eight of clubs was one of them.

This has such an unusual look, as if it were floating under a shallow pool of water over ripples of black volcanic sand.

Thank you Lynn – I am glad you see that ripples too, though they are in fact shadows of tree branches.

Yes, I thought that, too. An underwater feeling. Very nice.

I see I called you Lynn, Karen. Sorry about that. I hope you don’t mind being mixed up with Composer in the Garden (I wouldn’t).

Ha, now I see what I was doing – its what I get for answering comments in the Notifications list which only shows part of the comment chain. I did not mix any names up after all. Phew!

Soon you may find the other 51 cards laying around. Seriously, it looks great against this background.

Thanks Ken. There were a few more lying on the grass verge next to the side walk in this area, but I was with a friends and we passed this spot quickly so I only had time to stop for the card on the road.

I like it that your shoes and the twig are in the frame.

Hi Melinda – I had forgotten about your photo of a card on the ground. Probably some unconscious memory inspired this photo though. I like that twig too, and my shoes don’t really intrude too much.

Whenever I try a shot like this that includes my feet I either crop them out or don’t use the shot at all. So I am not entirely sure why I think YOUR shoes add to the image, but MY shoes detract! Maybe I need better shoes?

Mine are plastic Birkenstock clogs, worn to ease a foot problem, but impractical in many other ways. So “better shoes” is unlikely to be the answer. It is probably a matter of familiarity breeding contempt – those darned feet have been with you for so long.
