Iris Bug III
Another in my mini-series showing the iris dwellers and users. Here we see some tiny bug on the petal of a dewy Iris. I don’t know what kind of insect this is, but it sure is small. I like how the bug makes the petal seem vast, even though one can see some of the petal’s cellular structure.
I think this picture compliments yesterday’s shot very nicely, in the depiction of scale.

I love this. I thought it was an insect on a decorative glass vase until I read your words. Very nice!

Thank you Meanderer. I think decorative glass must often emulate petals of flowers, so it seems a reasonable confusion.

The petal by itself is gorgeous but the bug just makes it more interesting. Nice one.

Thanks Ken! I thought the petal might stand on it’s own, but like the dark silhouette of the bug. I have not tried to calculate the length of the critter, but I am thinking less than 2mm, maybe quite a bit less.

Love that iris petal, especially the bits of light in the less-focussed part at the top!
