Lower Pandora

IMG_9953

A couple of weeks ago I went out in the evening to a bar to listen to a band that my son plays in. Parking in that part of town, on a Friday evening, can be pretty tricky so I took the first spot I saw a couple of blocks away. I had my camera with me, and the sun was setting, so I snapped a few shots on the way – the light was nice.

I have shown photos from here before, a long time ago, and from the other side of the street. The derelict  façade of a burned-out building photographed in Pandora Street Neglect is now plastered onto the front of a nearly completed new building, which is what the scaffolding is all about in my top shot. Soon enough it will be the decorative icing on the front of a modern concrete structure. I hope the rest of the building matches the area well enough.

  3. The netting in the top part of the first photo threw me off a bit. I stared at it for a while before I discovered it was the netting, slightly out of focus. It gives the photos a surreal look and I like that. Everything looks so clean and well kept up. A nice place to visit (or work, in your son’s case).

    • Hi Ken. That netting was what caught my eye. It is pretty brightly coloured but works better in black and white. This part of town is pretty nice, it is the edge of the tourist district and extra care is taken to keep it spiffy. This explains the Cuban cigar store which just for those who can’t live without sticking a fumidor in their face and driving off all of us pests (the kind that need fresh air to live) on light-up. I have colleagues with offices in one of these very buildings. Sounds like a nice place to work – the windows open, for instance.
