Wall Light

Another view from Royal Roads University gardens a few weeks ago. I think this wall is against a gardener’s enclosure for tools and probably compost and plantings and the like.

Hi Lynn – thank you. Images of light have, without any thought or planning, predominated around here for the past week. I think it is the time of the year.

I really like the contrast of the lit leaves against the wall. But I think my favorite part of of the image is that lone stalk on the right side.

Thanks Melinda. I really like that lone stalk as well. I have some lone-stalk photos coming up, but from a different context.
What do you, or others, think of the strip of light across the top of the wall. Should I have cropped it out? I am of two minds about it but find when a scroll the image up just enough to lose it that the picture is a bit more unified. It’s not what I thought when I was originally cropping the photo, but I am thinking of changing my mind.

I did the scrolling-up deal, and I have to say that I like the photo better without the strip of light at the top. That surprised me a little, because I’d originally thought seeing the top of the wall gave a sense of scale to the shot. But scrolling up put the emphasis of the shot on just the weeds, making it – as you said – more unified. I am interested in seeing your additional lone-stalk photos, too.

Thanks. My thought processes too. My upcoming lone stalk photos are a bit sad, if you are a gardener.
In defence of the gardeners at RRU, those are planted flowers. I think the tall ones are lilies of some type, the lone stalk I would guess is an onion seed head, some of which have spectacular flowers.

Thanks David! I did too – it was that kind of place with a lot of trees and shaded areas, pierced by the bright sunlight.
