Gonzales Solstice V

From the solstice event in Gonzales Bay last Saturday night – this seemed to be a good day to schedule this photography within the series.
I really like the dried orange slices that are decorating this tree, some spinning in the breeze. It is a really nice idea that would look particularly good with a light behind the slices, as in this picture from last year when I caught one dried slice with morning sun shining through. I also like the lens flare, though there were two of them and that was too much. The one flare like a star seems suitably seasonal.

Very nice – the star-shaped lens flare was the first thing I noticed.
I went over to look at the orange slice photos, which are indeed beautiful. I was remiss in not commenting on them last year.

Thanks Melinda! That lens flare normally would be annoying, but I think it is fine here.
And the stained glass effect of the orange slices is great. Someone needs to invent a candle/light holder that has a slot for holding a slice of orange. But that sounds too natural for mass production. I can probably rig something with paper clips.

Let me know when you start production; I’d like to place an order. I don’t have a dehydrator, so I’ll need orange slices, too.

We have a dehydrator, and even loaned it to the bakery from which that orange slice in the macro shot came when they were in a pinch needing more slices to decorate their fabulous panettone. We know one of the bakers is how that came about. Making the fixture though – I left my government job and have no paper clips now.

No paper clip subsidy, no photocopier subsidy: that’s life for the self-employed. Maybe I could send you some paper clips for your birthday? Not only would that assist your industrial design efforts, buts it would also give me a reason to have a chat with Post Office Larry. Maybe I could even purchase the paper clips FROM him! That would make it a win-win-win!

POL would be thrilled to sell you paper clips. I, however, would prefer a paperless world with no need for photocopiers or clips or anything like that. Nobody cares about my preferences, so that won’t be happening…

Even in a paperless world, you’d still need p. clips for the orange-slice holders!
