Sunrise Trees
The sunrise was angling from the ocean through the trees outside my window on Quadra Island last week. I went out in my pyjamas so as not to miss the light – it only lasted a few minutes. These are the same trees that have featured in this blog with stars here and in the snow here and here.

Superb – especially the first one. The glancing light just picks out the edges of the trunk.

I love this series of forest scenes from Quadra,, it looks exactly like the walk through the forest at the Friday Harbor labs .. where its protected for ever from development. I hope that Quadra Island forest is too.

Hi Gillian – those were exactly my thoughts when I first saw this place – the view from house is very reminiscent of Friday Harbor labs views. This is a private property and not protected by anything more than the good intentions of the owners. The current owners are very sensitive to environmental values so I expect this won’t change for the time being. The next owners are of course unknown.

I can just feel myself here. Love that light; wish I could wake up early enough to see it more often.

Hi Linda – it is getting to that time of year when I don’t wake up early enough to see this kind of light, and as summer progresses, it will be assured that I am not awake to see this.

Thanks for commenting Journey. The light was terrific for a short time. I will be staying at this place in the summer for a month, but I doubt the light will be as good as it will be rising from quite a different place.

That curving driveway makes a person want to get some exercise.

It does lead one away into the distance, both in the photo and in reality. There are a lot of great walks to be had on Quadra Island
