Steel and Chrome
Or should the title be Chrome and Steel? This land yacht (as we called them in my childhood) is in front of Willy’s Bakery on Johnson Street.
While I was taking this picture from the middle of the street, I could sense Melinda’s camera upon my back, though perhaps she did not take that shot. I may never know.

Looks like a 1960’s Cadillac with those flattened out tail fins. Did you get a look?

Hi Val. Did not get a close look, but definitely an early 60’s Caddy.

I am not sure how you did it, but you made the car look even longer in the photo than it actually was! (Also, don’t tell anyone, but I did get a couple of shots of the car, too. They aren’t as good as this one.)

Ha. Not sure I believe that! But it is a long car, and I thought I had got that pretty well.

HI John – thanks for dropping by and commenting! Nice car for sure, though perhaps a bit impractical in these days of smaller parking spaces and expensive petrol.

True. It is a bit impractical but still an awesome looking car. And no problem on stopping by. Very good stuff!!

Thanks John! I’m in the field at the moment on a satellite connection. Will be back soon and have a look around your website. A quick browse suggests it will be worthwhile.

Land yacht – that’s funny! In Germany we don’t have those kinds of cars but of course we know them from TV, and we used to call them ships 🙂

thanks ytaba36 – Thanks for the comment. I have noticed your presence on Burntembers of late which is much appreciated. I am in the field on a limited satellite connection so have not had a good browse of your website, but intend to on my return. And, this is a real set of wheels unlike any they make now, or ever will again.
