Diagonal Wall
I am quite pleased with this picture which has an uncertain point of view. Not to mention a bit of corrugated iron which is pretty scarce in Victoria.
This is at the gated end of a walkway. The walkway was littered with the detritus of amorous, or perhaps commercial, encounters.
I don’t think I will be taking night shots around here.
We are looking up the wall, though to me it (mostly) looks like a flat surface ready for walking on.
This is more from the Olympus XA2, taken a few feet from the first in this series, and just above the Shelled truck.

superb composition!! those lines and shadows work together so well to create this abstract picture… love it!!

Well, now I have to come back to Victoria so I can see this corrugated metal! I like the uncertain POV in this shot; rotating images isn’t anything that I ever think about doing, but maybe I should give it a try.

Hi Melinda. This was rotated in camera so I am not sure I would call it rotating images, though I did rotate the scene. Either way, it is not something I normally do though I find myself doing it more often with these wee little cameras.

I can’t remember now why I was holding my camera upside down to take some shots, but let’s just say it wasn’t a huge success. Or any kind of a success.
Wait – I just remembered: it was when we were on a long car trip a few weeks ago and I was bored. The Patient Spouse had grown tired of my very helpful commentary on the music on the radio (he didn’t think things like “That band is called the Avett Brothers. Their last name is Avett. They are brothers.” was entertaining, which just shows how much fun HE is.) so I moved on to other ways to entertain myself. I am a much better driver than I am a passenger.

Holding your camera upside down in childish rebellion at not being fully and continuously appreciated by the Patient Spouse is not actually likely to produce good pictures, in case you have not figured that out yet. (Though like a bunch of monkeys and typewriters, you never can be sure). If he knows enough about photography, he might have noticed and been amused I suppose.
And, FYI, I was alone when I took this picture, so it was only myself I was amusing/abusing.

Sometimes I am my own (and only) fan – like road-trip shenanigans.
This wasn’t rebellion so much as it needing to find another way to entertain myself so that I didn’t push the Patient Spouse over to Impatient S.: it was a long way to walk home.

I forgot to add my “YAR” to my comment since it’s International Talk Like a Pirate Day!

Aye Matey. And shiver me timbers. My household has been full of pirate talk today; it has even leaked over the gunwales and onto the internet as can be spied here.

I had to look once, twice and a third time to get my bearings on this one. Crazy illusion on perspective, especially for one not familiar with the place.
Certainly a photo that included the detritus you speak of might not be appropriate here but they still might make for some interesting photos as signs of our times. Maybe we could use a “Detritus Gazing” site for the more adult or questionable material where folks could submit their shots under an assumed name. Of course there would have to be some artistic merit, I’m not suggesting a porn site. Just a place for shots that don’t belong in a family friendly site. Who do we know that could curate such a site?

I am not sure why it works so well to create an illusion – but likely the shadows and corrugated iron have a lot to do with it.
I think Detritus Gazing might work over at Dirt Gazing which already has had some cigarette butts. But if Detritus Gazing is to be a new site, I know just the curator! I suspect she is the same one you are thinking of.

I don’t have the faintest idea what either of you are talking about….

Must be having a dust storm or something – too much dirt in your eyes to see the obvious.

No dust storm – ten consecutive days of rain! Too many raindrops to see the obvious, I guess!

Oh yeah, I forgot. You are used to gazing at dirt, through dirt clouded skies. Rain though is not part of your natural habitat.

Thanks Moritz! It is pleasing when shots get abstracted with a bit of camera rotation.
