Letter Writing Station #1
In this entry way to Market Square, which is behind a door rather than a gate, there are 3 or 4 of these letter writing stations.
All are locked up tight. Probably because people have forgotten how to write letters.
I wonder if it is actually an art installation.

why locked up that way?
but it’s true we have forgotten to write letters… we write only e-mails these days…

Probably locked up by a risk manager worried about fingers being caught under slamming lids. How the lid stays up, and what is beneath it I have no idea. Maybe it is not supposed to stay up, but then you would think there would be a ledge at the bottom to hold the paper. I need to have another look next time I am there, perhaps I missed a sign explaining the setup.

It is quite strange. I did not see a notice declaring an installation, but that seems like the best explanation. Or perhaps there is a course taught in here somewhere that requires letter writing at these stations – which would be strange and perhaps only justifiable as art too.
