On the Kwuna

IMG_0366

I spent much of last week in Haida Gwaii on a job – lucky me! I did not have as much time for photography as I hoped – I was too busy with work and catching up with old friends.

Temporarily called the Queen Charlotte Islands, the place-name reverted a few years ago, via statute, to Haida Gwaii in a reconciliation with the Haida people.

To get to the archipelago most people either take the ferry from Prince Rupert or fly into Sandspit airport, which is what I did. To get from Sandspit to the main population centers means crossing Skidegate Channel from Moresby Island to Graham Island. This is done via the Kwuna, a BC Ferries vessel. And thus we come to this photo, taken on one of my crossings. I took several photos while on the ferry, so I expect more will show up here.

  1. Thanks Melinda. Everything aligned nicely including there being no cars in the way. I like the gradation of dirt tiwards the center on the yellow barrier.
