More stills from an upcoming timelapse video taken last weekend in the rain. The timelapse did not work out as I anticipated, but I think there will be something peaceful about it when it is done.

Another in the series from the corner of Johnson and Cook Streets here in Victoria, this time just a few steps up Johnson. This is the edge of a small parking lot – another vacant lot where there is simpler money to be made from parking fees than from the old house that doubtless was here at one time. I am not sure this is the greatest advertisement by the construction company which is fixing the fence at the back of the neighbouring lot.
More of my series from the corner of Johnson and Cook Streets here in Victoria, this time a mural that faces onto Johnson.
I don’t know anything of the artist, but appears to be by Morgan Macaulay. I like the colours, they go well with wet pavement. It seems to have solved a tagging problem as well.

Another timelapse series from Trafalgar Park in Oak Bay. Today’s view is through a moderately wide-angle lens looking west from Gonzales Hill in Victoria. In foreground is Gonzales Bay, Ross Bay in the middle and the Strait of Juan de Fuca just off the mouth of Victoria Harbour. In the distance are the Sooke Hills. It was a windy day and my camera, and self, were buffeted pretty heavily. In fact, the video I did with the 200mm lens has the wind shaken judders magnified to a distracting level. My other timelapse videos can be found here.

I find that viewing it at high-resolution in WordPress runs a bit rough and recommend you move over to YouTube and watch if full screen at high-resolution.

More from the series at the corner of Johnson and Cook Streets here in Victoria, and another instalment in the sub-them of painted asphalt.
I prefer the black and white for this one because it accentuates the slightly uncanny effect of the branches merging with the cracks in the arrow. But, the colour is nice too.

Part of my ongoing series of the sights at the corner of Johnson and Cook Streets here in Victoria features painted asphalt surfaces. The surrounding pavement of this building is just covered in yellow paint. Almost like a fetish of some kind. (more…)

Another timelapse series from Trafalgar Park in Oak Bay. Today’s view is through a telephoto lens looking across the Strait of Juan de Fuca at the Olympic Mountains in Washington State, and then two more views across Trial Island following the progress of an autoliner as it makes its way towards Vancouver. The Olympics on a clear day make a fabulous view that we in Victoria see regularly, though I have never become used to it – it always stops me in my tracks for a look. And that is without being able to discern the roiling clouds. Timelapse adds something important to an already terrific scene. This is the video mentioned in yesterday’s ‘teaser’ with more stills from the video. My other timelapse videos can be found here.
