Dockside Frost II

More from the Dockside Green series.  This rail, and the deck surface, had a nice coating of frost that caught the light very well as the sun was rising.

This time I prefer the colour, I think the light on the rail is better in colour – it pulls the eye through the picture more firmly than in the black and white. But I do like the black and white textures.

Falling frost black and white

This too was taken as part of the Dockside Green series that I started a few days ago.  It was frosty and my son started scraping the frost off the railing into the water.

This time I can’t make up my mind between the colour and black and white, but am leaning to the colour.

Dockside Reflections

I had a lot of great comments on yesterday’s post of a new building in the  Dockside Green development in Vic West. One of those comments was a fairly extended discussion with my son about the relative merits of HDR and whether it just gives too much information in areas otherwise in shadow, causing visual overload of some kind. That conversation kind of petered out but I think we concluded that for documentation purposes HDR is very useful, but not always suitable for the artistic side of things.

Dockside Moiré

Dockside moire colour

The corrugated surface of this building causes moiré to die for in the early morning light. I know it is some artifact of digital photography, but in the right circumstances it is really quite cool. I think this is one of those times.
