Leaf Stem Flower
In three earlier posts (here, here and here) I have shown the clouds from a lightning storm that displayed a couple of weeks ago, some in colour and some in black and white. Once the sun had pretty much finished setting and the lightning was spent, I turned my attention to some small plants growing along the eroding edge of the Chinese Cemetery. Their red stems and red and green foliage were lit up by the lingering glow of sunset off to the west.
Most of my exposures were a bit underdone, so all of these have had their light levels adjusted. Not being a botanist, I am never comfortable with my identifications of plants, but I think the red stemmed plants are probably Thrift or Armeria maritima.

Beautiful colors – I love how the fading light lends all that richness to the images. I especially like “Against Eroding Edge and Sky.”

Thanks Ryan. It is fascinating how that late evening light can totally change our view of something. I barely noticed these flowers until their red stems were made to look RED, and the dirt around them too.
