Carrot Love

I caught these carrots, like entwined lovers in a Paris park, and lopped their greens off. Sweet organic carrots really are one of the pleasures of the summer and early fall.

As an exercise in learning more about Lightroom, I tried to process the image to make it a bit less sensational. I may have failed in that department.

  1. You have a great way of finding things that might be considered slightly mundane to some (not me, that’s for sure!!) and making them truly fascinating studies! This is a great example. A great, great example. Love how you’ve shared several versions here for comparison.

    • Thank you! I found the carrots pretty fascinating, but did struggle with how to shoot them. That batch of carrots was very tasty, though I did not try these particular ones.

    • I am sorry to say, the greens were indeed lopped and composted. The carrots were given to my daughter and partner who are expecting a baby in January. They somehow untwined the two carrots without breaking them, and ate them. I wish I had seen them untwined, they might have been even more interesting.

  2. Not surprisingly, i like the B&W preset the best, but they all are very nice. The carrot itself is so unusual that it’s a great subject in itself.

    • I agree about it being a subject and I tried different creative angles to photograph it to best effect, with different backgrounds. In the end the plainest seem to work the best. Which also goes for the processing when it comes down to it. Maybe there is a general rule in there about keeping it simple for unusual subjects?
