Fuchsia Deck

This rocker is on the front deck. A fuchsia has taken control of one neglected corner, and being neglected, dropped blossoms have collected in a small drift on the cedar boards.

I have not been paying much attention to this part of the house, so was pleasantly surprised with the visual effect of this skiff of fuchsia. I also liked the texture of the weathered teak rocker which is very compatible with that of the cedar.

    • Hi Laurie – a problem with bracketing that I still have to learn to anticipate is that it can drop you into pretty slow speeds. In this case, the 24mm lens really is forgiving and the only exposure pushing the hand-holding limit was 1/15th (the rule I learned so many years ago was that if it is a 200mm lens, don’t hand hold below 1/200th, if a 24mm don’t hand hold below 1/25th, etc).

I have recently discovered that I have a much steadier hand if I use the 2 second delay – that gives me time to press the shutter and then regain a solid grip on the camera, it makes quite a difference to me as I feel like I have lost quite a lot of steadiness when just pressing the shutter with no delay..

  1. My mouth is wide open here, Ehpem! I am gobsmacked at the beautiful art that you have created through capturing the beautiful art of nature! The shots with selective color and totally enchanting, and the rich tones in that door are way beyond effective description, my friend!!!! Fan-flippin-tastic work here!

    • Wow – what a great comment. I think I saw some toadish flippers flapping 🙂 I am so glad you like this. It is really quite a lot of fun sliding those colour bars in lightroom – so many of them to play with!

    • Thanks Ken – I think when I first got lightroom you said I was going to love the added control and you were totally right, it’s great being able to change the different colours in different ways.
