Harling Point Water
Another long exposure from the 2011 New Years Eve morning, that I have revisited in the past couple of days, ‘the morning of the sunrise” I am coming to think of it. This location is pretty much the tip of Harling Point – the south-east corner of the neighbourhood which projects out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
I have loaded a larger image than usual, so if you click on it you will be able to see more detail. Apologies if it chokes anyone’s download.
This is two jpegs stitched together. It was not a perfect join (my software for that sucks big time), but I think I disguised most of the join evidence.
Even less sky in this photo than yesterday, in fact there is none – the background is the water surface looking at Trial Island.

Absolutely terrific, Ehpem! Great details and textures, and the natural tones here are wonderful! Must be a product of that awesome sunrise!

Thank you Karen. I think it was the textures on the rock that caught my eye initially, and the nice log which had been there a long time. The waves were only sometimes sloshing into this embayment which makes them seem much more misty.

Thanks Ken. I can see the join :). But then I know where it is. The problem was the water which had hard lines in it – two of them even though there was one join. I had to blow out the water to hide them. Even so, I like the image enough to post and am glad that you are giving it 4 stars. I won’t ask what scale that is on, but do hope its not out of 10 ;).

BTW, that was the water above the rock that had the lines. The frothy water under the log had no line that I could see.

It looks like your software did a pretty good job of joining the photos on my monitor. The water is really nicely done and the rocks are tack sharp. And the color of the lichen is very nice. 4 stars.
