Drain Sunrise
After yesterday’s candle lit beach decorated for the solstice what better way to mark the beginning of longer days than with a sunrise?
I don’t think I have shown a Ross Bay storm drain picture at sunrise. This picture was taken last weekend, the same shoot that featured frost on the windshield and the spiral staircase in Beacon Hill Park. All in it was a good couple of hours out with the camera.

Thank you! Early on I learned that one should not do HDR of moving water. Seems I forgot – or really, I just figured out how it can be done.

Thank you Lynn. It would have been a pleasure to stand there with you and watch it, though the clicking of my shutter and crunching of gravel underfoot might have detracted from the quiet enjoyment.

The piece of driftwood in the lower right points right to the sun rising. That’s really nice!!!

Hi Ken – that bit of driftwood was a bonus – I did not touch it. There often seems to be a nice bit of driftwood at that spot, until someone pushes it off on new travels, or the next tide pulls it away.

Thanks Melinda – this being blended from three images, I had three water options to choose between over the drain area, but two were nearly identical (this being one of them) and really very typical for this tide.
