Top of the Stairs II
Another visit to Beacon Hill Park. More idyllic benches, dogs and trees.
This photo was also taken the same day as my series on the spiral stairs, near the top of a different set of stairs that I used to get down to the beach.

Canon EOS 5Dmkii, Canon 50/1.4 lens, ISO100, f3.2, both are tonemapped from three exposures taken at +/- 2 E.V.

Yes, though this was a brightly lit from the side to get this effect, the trees still have the feel of grey and winter.

I love the light on the trees in the second shot.

Hi Howard – thank you. I have long been fascinated with that kind of light but find it very difficult to photograph well as I am torn between the busy textures at the softer end of things and the stark graphics of a high contrast shot and the two don’t really seem to work together. Possibly my own limitations.

Great photos of a favourite part of Victoria!

Thanks Richard. It is a great spot – perhaps a tad crowded much of the time, but for good reasons.
