Cardoon II
More black and white photographs of a cardoon flower, with more black than yesterday. This thing is about the size of a softball, surprisingly large.
Not sure if I can work up to showing a colour version. We will see how the weekend progresses.

Mmmmm, now I’m hungry for cardoons. I’ve never cooked these myself but my sister cooks them for all special occasions. We don’t eat the flowers but they say they are edible. I especially like the first shot and the black and white treatment is perfect for them.

Hi Ken – we have eaten some from this garden, but not the flowers either. I am not sure I could eat something that vivid in colour, seems like a warning.

The top photo is my favorite, with all the details and texture in it. Also, the plants we have in Texas are scrawny compared to these – more the size of a golf ball. In case you wondered. And you probably did.

I rather did wonder! I think there must be many varieties, including the artichokes that these are, or resemble closely.
