Saw Horse
This saw horse has resided in my back yard seemingly for ever. I use it once or twice a year, and repair it just as often. It has nearly come to the end of it’s useful life.
There are a lot of things in this photo that have been posted in my blog before, such as Ruby’s Gate, the thistle shadow on the gate post, the hanging planter, the bush behind the saw horse blowing in the wind, the cat sitting on the archway, and lots of flower and other shots in the garden beyond the gate. This is very much a part of my surroundings.

Wonderful post, my friend. I love the color version here, the colors literally pop right out of the screen! Very subtle use of HDR to bring out some of the details and textures without overblowing the colors or creating halo’s!

Thanks so much Toad. The HDR really did bring out the details, which is what I am using it for a lot these days. I find it useful even for subjects that don’t seem likely candidates, maybe even an easier method to get where I want than playing with a single image with similar dynamic range to the final HDR image.

Thanks Ryan. I am afraid what I see is the first lawn cut of the year looming – the really heavy wet one that the mower, and pusher, struggle with mightily. But it is lovely, I just have to look for that beyond the grass.

That is true Ken. I have taken an awful lot of photographs within 20 feet of this spot.

I like the b&w image quite a bit – the tones give it a lot of depth.

Thanks Melinda – I like the b&w best as well, I was going to post just that one, but something caused me to add the other (once I desaturated the pink traffic cone in the foreground).

The black and white is outstanding, Ephem. The shadows show up so nicely. It looks very welcoming.

Thank you Karen. I have sweat over a chainsaw and wood at this saw horse quite often – I am not sure I see it as inviting, but the view into the next door garden is welcoming. Soggy though at this time of year.
