Johnson and Cook III

Continuing with the Johnson and Cook Streets series with a load of yellow with extreme of peeling paint on parking curbs.

Once again I have my workflow priorities backwards. I am running another timelapse software test, and set it to run before preparing more images for this post. Since it is using all the computer resources (the lag between typing and the words displaying while I write this post reminds me of my old Kaypro 2 CPM OS computer with 64K of RAM) and will run for 2.5 hours which will be after my bedtime, I am going with what I had prepared a few days ago. I had intended to process some single images, and not HDR versions, as I suspect they might be better. Perhaps a future blog will have those.

  1. Wow, I simply love the textures in this series! I am with Ken on the cropped just below the wheels, I scrolled the image to where the car was just out of the browser and it looked pretty sweet! 🙂 Great little series my friend.

    • Thanks David. I have actually already prepared and scheduled a post that has that very crop in it, and similar crops or compositions with other curbs in the area – one of the last in my series. I think it is coming out tomorrow.

  2. Well seen, my friend, and perfectly captured! A really wonderful set here, full of great textures and color to explore!

    • Thanks Melinda. I like that one best too – also I like the strip of yellow grass parallel to the curb.

I love that shot of Ken’s, though I can’t say I see much semblance to mine. I will have to have another look. However, I am very pleased to remind people of Ken’s great shots.

    • Thank you Lynn. I take it from your comment that you agree with Ken (and me) that the last picture is out of place. I am glad you like the abstract aspects of these shots.

  3. Some may think these may be abstract images, and they may be right, but they embody the color, textures and shapes that I find interesting and they make a nice little series. As a series, though, and if I can be critical for just a moment, the last photo would fit in better if it were cropped just below the wheels of the car. That gives a whole new meaning to the photo, probably not what you intended when you took it but, as I see it, there two separate pictures in this one frame.

    • Thanks for the comment Ken. You are totally right, and in fact I shot a couple of series in this parking lot – one of that building which was also in yesterday’s post with the woman taking out the garbage, the other of the yellow parts on the parking lot. There are one or two shots that include both. I should have reserved the last photo for another post about the building, or better cropped as you suggest. Also, I should prepare the whole series before I start posting bits of it.
