Timelapse Flower Teaser
More stills from an upcoming timelapse video taken last weekend in the rain. The timelapse did not work out as I anticipated, but I think there will be something peaceful about it when it is done.
The fawn lilies are nearly done, the shooting stars in their prime and the camas just coming out of bud and into flower. All were drenched, as was I by the time I was done. I was hoping for interesting movement of water drops and other subtle things that one normally does not notice, but with few exceptions I did not get any of that. However, I am finding that processing the sequences is improving my skill with the software so it is not a waste.
I might have been able to post the video tonight, except the computer shut itself down. I think it overheated. Which is probably related to the fan noises that come and go. I have the cover off and it is working. Good thing my parts have arrived and it will be in the shop shortly. It needs some TLC, as well as a facelift. And liposuction.

Thanks David – I am glad you like them. I need to do some more of this kind of photography just for the stills and nothing more complicated. I seem to have been diverted from simple photography to other stuff in the past few months. Beginning to realise that simplicity is where its at.

Thanks David! It was fun to have my old Takumar macro out of the cupboard again – I had abandoned it when I got a more modern lens, but for timelapse the manual lens is ideal. The wildflower timelapse video should be posted tomorrow, so in a matter of a minute or so, you can see 2000 of these images….

These still are very good – the water droplets are not easy to capture well, but you have managed it. Well done.

Thank you Andy. I like photographing water drops, which often means having myself and the camera in plastic wraps. Or sometimes in the summer catching the dawn dew, which is particularly nice.

The still are great!!! Can’t wait for the TL. I don’t think my computer has the horsepower necessary to do the TL so I’ll have to wait for another upgrade or a new computer (whichever comes firs).

Thanks Ken. The timelapse is stalled while my computer gets a few more horses. It crashed in the middle of rendering one in this series – I think it overheated which may be a sign of something else wrong….There is almost nothing original left on the computer – over the 8 years or so that we have had it it has seen a new monitor, new drives, upgraded CPU, new power supply, new video card, lots more RAM, new network card. The mother board is about all that is left, and the box. I don’t think we can stretch it much further.
