Cloud Pool IV

When there is a good sky I am drawn to these pools at the Chinese Cemetery, sometimes they have perfect reflections, and at others like yesterday’s when it is windy, they are more abstract and oily patches of light in the bedrock.
I have previously posted about these pools, last year with Cloud Pool and more recently with Cloud Pool II and III, all of pools a bit closer to the water than this one. This pool is up near the top of the bedrock hill at the east end of the cemetery. I think the strong wind had either blown some of the water out of the pool, or maybe it did not fill yet after a week of sunshine.
I have not done HDR processing for a while and feel like I might have lost my touch a bit. But, tonight I kind of like the saturated and slightly unreal feel of this processing, and it was getting very blue, so the colours are not a complete lie. Besides which I have to go to bed – I have not warmed up from this shoot which included timelapse sequences from this rock in a strong cool wind.

If it wasn’t for the bit of green and orange, this could pass as a duo-tone. It’s really very effective.

Thank you Ken. I was worried it might be a bit garrish.

Somehow this image looks edible, but I’m not sure how or why! Maybe I’m hungry.

You must be hungry. Damp yellowed moss is not great to eat, nor is grass that is frequented by flocks of Canada geese. And clouds turn out to be insubstantial.

The arc of the pool and the inverted arc of the clouds make this an effective composition, but quite
apart from that its a very nice picture!

Thanks Val, I am glad you noticed that. I actually noticed it prior to taking the picture! For a change.
