Ogden Railings
This pictures shows the new railings on the Ogden Point breakwater in Victoria BC. As mentioned in other recent posts, I can see why these are good for a lot of users. But, for a photographer they really ruin the wonderful clean line that existed before the railings.
You can compare to how it was in the series I did a year ago before the railings were put in, and in particular this image.

Despite the railing it’s still a fantastic view, and the curve in that final image is really rather attractive.

Thanks Andy, it is a fantastic view and when one is out for a walk, the view is what we all look at, so the railings won’t really be a problem.

It’s easy to see why the railings are necessary and they really did a very nice job with the installation. But aesthetically, i agree with you that they do break up a nice clean line. I like the final shot showing the curve in the railing with the city in the background.

Thanks Ken. I am sure I will get used to it very quickly. And I should try for some shots that emphasize the shiny new railings as they are likely to become dull pretty soon, with all the salt spray.
