Clover Point

IMG_7940_1_2-2

I like this view of Clover Point as the lines lead nicely to the bright ribbon of sky over by the Olympic Mountains. It was that part of the sky which was really the subject of many of my shots, some of which have been see here in the past few days. Being out with just a 50mm lens, it was not the best subject for the equipment at hand.

The building on Clover Point is the angler’s association, featured in one of my very first posts. And the sea wall has wonderful curves and was in another early post.

  1. Hi ehpem, the discipline that accompanies the use of a fixed length lens worked really well in this photo. Perfect composition guides the eye, tonal values graduate naturally (and beautifully) from the front to the horizon, and the contrast in textures makes the image stand out. Not being able (for now) to spend much time in the bloggosphere I miss a lot of posts, so the moments I am here are precious and when I get to your blog it is with anticipation (never know what to expect photographywise, always good though – like this photo).

    • Hi Joseph, nice to see you here, especially if your reading time is limited right now. Mine too has been seriously curtailed and I am behind on most of my favourite blogs. I am glad you like this photo, and I really appreciate the comments on what you like about it. Your comments are so often insightful and helpful for me in developing my photography.

    • Thank you David. The clouds were making it very gloomy in Victoria, but when I got to the ocean and could see this strip of bright light it kind of opened up the sky. The seawall is a very organic thing in many ways – the shape following, to a large degree, the natural curve of the land. It has been there long enough that it does not stick out the way a new one would (though that is less the case with this treatment).
