I think you are right, though it must be awfully stealthy since wrapping-self-around is somewhat of a specialty of wire, and not-letting-go an area of expertise for barbed-wire. Things could get interesting in the next decade or two.

Well, it is true the Canon has a lot of metal in it, which is no longer true of many cameras. So it could be an influence, or attraction?
And, the wire was not doing a good job of keeping nature from recovering this field – there were many incursions around the edges.
