Benched Shadow
Well, this is a bit different. A post with a digital image, and only a digital image.
These shadows are on Dallas Road which I had revisited to have another try at an interesting patching job on the asphalt.
But this bench shadow caught my eye – because of how it was framed in the other shadows, and because of the window reflections lying across it.
And then a cyclist trolled her shadow across the field of view convincing me to make a picture.
Not what I came for, but just as good.

Well, I was feeling pretty darned tired having just done a stretch of 12+ hour days. Deadline done and met. so I am surfacing again.

I’m at work. But as you can tell from these comments, there’s a chance I’m not writing grants. (I just got back from my boss’s office. He was reading the owner’s manual on his new car. It’s a pretty intense work environment we’ve got.)

At least you get paid well enough to afford new cars! Or your boss does. I have never afforded a new car in my life. Though I guess my bosses often have. Hmmm. Why wasn’t I a boss?

Do you think the crap associated with being a boss could be offset by a new car? I guess it would depend on the particular car. You could probably put up with a lot of crap if you could get a Maserati out of the deal….

Maybe – but I doubt it. A car like that indicates a lot of 14 hour days burrowing in mountains of crap. Or a very rich daddy.

I missed that turn in my career – the narrow alley that takes you to the teflon coating department. Or there were too many turds at the entrance for me to be interested at having a look. Being a cat lover and all.

Thanks Ken. I agree completely. I clicked on the tag for shadow at the bottom of the post (above the comments) and was surprised to find I had posted so many shots like these. Especially recently. Must be a thing I am interested in right now without really planning it that way.

Hi Andy – thanks for you comment. The diagonal composition was a bit of a silk purse situation – I wanted less diagonal but did not want my own shadow in the photo, this was a close as I could get and meet those two criteria. However, I suspect that had I been able to walk around the subject a bit more that I might have ended up at about this location anyway as it works well for me.

That is so often the problem with shadows and also with reflections. How to get the best image without finding oneself part of the picture!
