Analogue Drain
This was taken on one of those beautiful fall days that have now abandoned this part of the world.
The past few days have seen torrential rain and strong wind so it is nice to be reminded of these calm warm days from last month.
This could be considered part of the Ross Bay Stroll post as it was taken at the same time as those photos.

There is a calming feeling about this photo that I like. We just got over a foot of snow during the last 24 hours. I’ll take the rain any day.

Hi Ken. A lot of snow in a short period of time can be quite wonderful for a few hours while it is all quiet and still, till the plows make it through. Just after we bought our house, we had one of these super wet “pineapple expresses” come through, but it happened over the top of arctic outflow winds from the mainland. We got about 40 inches of snow in 24 hours. It was at the time a Canadian record snowfall for a single day, and probably still is. This being a place with rare snowfall, there was no equipment to remove snow. It was days before cars and buses started to move. Our car was not even visible other than a barely discernible lump in the snow. Then we got warm rain and it all melted at once with some very serious flooding.
Today the storm drain was anything but calming – there was a giant barge pulled up right next to it with an old house being driven onto it for shipping to one of the San Juan Islands. Fortunately I had my camera, and was not quite too late, though I missed a lot of the action. It will be some time before I get the shots processed – I took quite a few, but a huge contrast to this shot.
