The Parental Units
Long ago my siblings and I used to refer to our parents as the parental units, or more properly The Parental Units.
We don’t do that anymore, but I do hear that term in my head from time to time.
Like when I see this picture I took of them last summer when we went to the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific for a walk and tea.
A few weeks ago they had their 60th wedding anniversary, which really is a very long time.

Loving the adaptive camouflage on the male unit. Both looking well.

Thank you Patrick – they are looking and doing well. I too like that camouflage, they have things figured out that way in Hawaii when it comes to shirts.

I recognize those two. Must have bumped into them on an Island trip.

Hi Richard, they get out and about quite a bit – maybe you saw them in passing. Maybe in New Zealand in the fall, speaking of islands. (I can’t believe the Chrome? spell checker that is saying I spelled Zealand incorrectly. Must be a northern hemisphere version of English in the dictionary).

They probably thought of you and your 4 sibs as their kid units.

Hi Val, that is likely true. The way they cycled through our five names before hitting on the right one when trying to get our attention, especially when we were being annoying, might have made a numbering system a bit easier. Naturally the oldest would have been Number 1.
