burnt embers

I spent a chunk of my afternoon at Union Station in Los Angeles trying to get a good photograph of this escalator and mural.

This was the best I managed and it really was not good enough.

Later I saw a classmate’s shots made looking down, the way this guy is doing.

Those photographs made me realise I had never even noticed the beautifully patterned floor below, even when riding down the escalator.

I wasn’t focused on the right things I guess.
