Macro on Film

2015-7N-002-010a

Bud is about 3mm across, perhaps a touch more. 6 sec (Elan 7N metered it at 15 sec, DSLR metered at 8 sec), f16, ISO320

I mentioned in my first posts about the Canon Elan 7N (here and here) that I had chosen it so as to be able to shoot film with some of the lenses and accessories that I use on my Canon 5Dii DSLR. Since I have a rotten cold and don’t feel like getting out with any camera, I decided to use the 7N to shoot some high-magnification macro tests onto film set up at the table which I moved right next to the wood stove. Coddled myself, in other words.

A summary of this post is published simultaneously at the 52 Rolls Project – this link will take you there.

Coffee Chairs, Occupied

2014-XA2-004-026

This is one of my favourite spots to take pictures as the tables and chairs are in a never ending swirl of arrangement.

I was there yesterday – no one was sitting, the light was not right for a photo.

These pictures are from a few months ago, taken on different days, but after I took the first from this location, featured in Coffee Chairs.

Market Gate

2014-XA2-005-006a

A Market Square gate and passer-by in late evening light. Behind this wall is a restaurant that was gutted by fire last week.

Fortunately the fire was contained to the one business, though water and smoke damage were more widespread.

The expired Kodak Gold had some weird colour shifts which are particularly vivid in this image.

Ferry Riders II

2014-XA-006-038

More sunny shots for the winter days – these are from a trip to Vancouver in September to attend, and shoot, the wedding of two friends. It was a really good trip, I showed another picture from this trip on Ferry Riders.

I had an XA and an XA2 with me – I loaded the XA Fujichrome Provia part way through the voyage.

The two indoor shots made use of the back-light compensation lever. I was especially interested in the reflections off the floor, though must have been a bit distracted when I took the last shot as I was too close to do the reflections justice.

House Underway

This is a continuation of earlier posts (Please Leave the Storm Drain Behind and Moving House) which show this barge tucked in beside one of my favourite subjects, the Ross Bay storm drain. The storm drain is hidden by high tide but the waves break over it in an uneven way revealing the location. Here are the final shots in the process of moving this house as the barge is released and pulled off shore and heads off towards the new foundations for the house on Orcas Island in the USA.

This is yesterday’s companion post from 52 Rolls which I had intended to reblog yesterday…

2015-7N-001-006

This is my Roll 4 taken with a Canon Elan 7N and EF 50mm/f1.4 using a roll of Fuji Pro 400H that came in the camera body when I bought it earlier this week. The photos are all taken at Clover Point in Victoria BC inside of which is hidden a sewage “treatment” facility.  I have posted many shots of this location which can be found here. Today’s post is published simultaneously with one on my blog (here)that has many more photos from this roll,  including the colour versions of ones I have converted to black and white and posted here on 52 Rolls, as well as some black and white conversions of ones posted below in colour.

If you get  a chance to view my other post you will also find out more about the camera and a discussion about why I was on the lookout for this kind of camera. In a…
