Yet more from the barrier that guards the top of the sewage plant at Clover Point. I think this graffiti has been there a long time, as it looks like it is growing a bit of lichen or algae on it. This is a bit odd since there are many painted patched on the concrete barriers in this area, presumably hiding graffiti. Perhaps this one is considered more like art and has been left as a result. It certainly is more durable than the paper graffiti that was a few feet to the left of this location.

A first Christmas dinner – liquids and solids consumed. And a great deal of socialising and having fun with family and friends. She brings a lively intelligence to everything she does, as I think shows in both these pictures.

This view from 2013 winter solstice event was taken from the NW corner of Gonzales Bay and is part of this series which now seems to span two years.
The green light in the distance is the light house on Trial Island. The bright red light that is illuminating the clouds are new and obnoxiously bright and randomly blinking warning lights on the radio towers on Trial Island, mostly hidden behind Harling Point.

Another picture taken at the 2013 winter solstice event in Gonzales Bay last weekend. The solstice pictures I took last year were at the cluster of candles in the far distance.

From the solstice event in Gonzales Bay last Saturday night – this seemed to be a good day to schedule this photography within the series.
I really like the dried orange slices that are decorating this tree, some spinning in the breeze. It is a really nice idea that would look particularly good with a light behind the slices, as in this picture from last year when I caught one dried slice with morning sun shining through. I also like the lens flare, though there were two of them and that was too much. The one flare like a star seems suitably seasonal.

More from the 2013 winter solstice event in Gonzales Bay on Saturday night.
I should have learned from last year’s shots that a candle too close in the foreground does not really work. Even so, I like the idea and I guess will push at it again in the future. Sadly I did not have a great focus point for the picture below. I like the water too much to toss the photo, but I am not sure it will work to crop it, and probably will have to rerun the HDR processing again if I do crop it since the jpeg might not withstand too much.
Today I show the first of a few photos taken at the 2013 winter solstice event in Gonzales Bay on Saturday night. This is the second time I have photographed this event. Last year was better, and made for better photography, because there was a largely clear sky with little cloud, and thus no rain, and we got there earlier when more of the candles were still illuminated.
