Another post of Gonzales Bay during blue hour a couple of weeks ago. And lo and behold, it has a storm drain visible at lower tides. Now, this is not nearly such a compelling drain as the one I have been documenting in Ross Bay, but nice to know there is one so close to home if I need to nip out quickly one day.
A week or two ago I did a series on the erratic that sits in the middle of Gonzales Beach in Victoria, and of other scenes in the bay during blue hour. Today are some views as one comes down the path to the beach, and the first shot I took of the erratic once I got down there. On my walks I typically come down onto the beach in it’s middle (like this time) or at the west end and walk along to the east staircase that goes up. One of these shots is of that staircase, with terraces of picnic tables on the slope.
Self portraits on a transformer stone. Sahsima frames my shadow last spring.
I thought you might be curious about what I look like; I hope these sate your inquiring minds. I find there is something slightly disconcerting about the top image – the two dimensionality of the stone makes it seem pasted onto the background. Or something.
Sahsima up close with an emphasis on the sky during a spring sunset, the same one as in yesterday’s image, and quite that I a few posted a few months ago. Of those, Painting Sahsima includes one of my favourite images which shows a dynamic man painting this scenery.
Yet another face of the multiple personalities of Sahsima, the transformer stone on Harling Point, this one during a spring sunset. It is also known as Harpoon Rock, and the Songhees story that goes with this place has been recounted in earlier posts.
More from Ross Bay Cemetery – these images are from the end of September.. You can find out more about Ross Bay Cemetery in these earlier posts.
Another long exposure from the 2011 New Years Eve morning, that I have revisited in the past couple of days, ‘the morning of the sunrise” I am coming to think of it. This location is pretty much the tip of Harling Point – the south-east corner of the neighbourhood which projects out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
I have loaded a larger image than usual, so if you click on it you will be able to see more detail. Apologies if it chokes anyone’s download.
