Ross Bay Awash
Two more pictures of the storm drain on the beach in Ross Bay, Victoria. In these images I was trying to capture how the low waves were washing over the top of the drain first from one side, then from the other, forming Xs and Vs on its surface.
Earlier pictures of this feature (here and here) are from the same vantage point – the first was taken at a lower tide and with a more dramatic sky, the second on the same day as these, but as a long exposure.

Hi Toad – thanks a lot. I was down there again this evening – it was blowing between 50 and 60 kph with large waves. My shots could be better, but the conditions are lousy. Anyway, in a few days I expect to put up even more drain pictures. I freely admit it is a strange topic for a series of photos….

it makes me cold just to look at these pics. If I step out onto the concrete a wave will be sure to wash over my shoes. Misery!

I like both of these quite a lot. Is that a sailboat in the upper photo? Most boats are put away for the winter here because the Lake and the Bay freeze around the shoreline. On a normal Winter (which we have not had this year) the Bay is completely frozen over and the Lake can freeze for miles from the shore.

Hi Ken. Yes that is a sailboat. You can see them out pretty every day of the year, unless there is some extreme weather one day. Then its just the sailboarders. If you look closely you can see three sail boats motoring along the horizon in the second photo as well.
