Ross Bay Rain Walking

We had a steady rain this morning, right when I was out with my camera. I was not the only one outdoors though, the dog walkers were out in full force. Does carrying your dog while walking count as dog walking?

My apologies to subscribers for the broken link in emails yesterday, or for placing yesterday’s post into the feed for the previous day. I published it with the wrong date and then fixed the date, which of course broke the links and did not change it’s RSS feed order. It has been a long time since I last did that, so I hope you forgive me.

These pictures are taken in Ross Bay, near the storm drain. Yes, I was taking more pictures of the storm drain. I just can’t help myself. Sorry.

    • Thank you Sonali! I don’t usual have people in my pictures, but the dog walkers on the beach were persistent so I decided to ignore their presence. The one of the man holding his small dog and herding the collie was deliberate – I like the scene and shot it quickly while walking up off the beach, hence the tilted horizon, which I also decided worked well and left alone (though I cropped the shot to give the man and dogs a bit more detail).

  1. One reason for spending so much time in Victoria, 45 minutes down the road, is its beautiful shores. We always end up enjoying a beach walk. Even though being a bit wary of special effects through photo editing, that holga effect enhances photo #3 very nicely.

    • Hi Joseph. I am wary of them too, but I quite like the holga-ish treatment. That is the more severe end of it, but in fact the middle image has a lighter treatment without total desaturation.

  2. While I really enjoy the storm drain series, as I’m sure most others are, perhaps a support group could help you or your family find consolation or resolution in this turbulent matter. Or, better yet, just give us more photos of the storm drain.

    • Ha!
I am naturally leery of support groups, so I will take the easy route and process some more pictures of that drain. I am a bit concerned that too much internet exposure might go to the drain’s headwaters though.
